Abstract :
The experimental measurements revealed a similar electromagnetic pulse waveform of ESD, burst and surge. Physical quantities describing these phenomena - voltages or currents, start from zero, have a very steep slope upward reaching a peak, followed by a slow descent, and tend to zero again. At the same time, the electromagnetic pulse waveforms vary, having one or more peaks, one or more inflection points, one or different polarities. This article assesses the relevance of the waveforms regulated by the actual immunity standards and proposes a new mathematical expression of electromagnetic pulse that meets all the requirements imposed by the physical phenomenon.
