Abstract
This work presents a framework for the evaluation of converged mobile and wireless communication systems, focusing mainly on the capacity performance of the radio interface. The developed framework enables the analysis of issues such as the possible benefits of convergence and the evaluation of different convergence strategies, radio interface capacity performance, and the impact of different user traffic distributions in a converged network scenario. This framework allows one to observe that, e.g., for 700 users, HIPERLAN/2 combined with a second access technology (2G or 3G) provides sufficient capacity and performance.
