            Abstract :
A novel fuzzy-algorithm for the identification of different defect typologies that generate partial discharges in insulation systems of AC rotating machines, is described in this paper. It relies on a set of parameters, organized in a tree- structure, capable of describing the shape of the phase-resolved partial discharge patterns. The tree-structure and its inspection resort to fuzzy-logic to carry out outputs that reflect the uncertainty of the shape analysis in the identification results. Both training and working examples are also discussed.
