Abstract :
In this paper, we proposed a algorithm based on topological operator to solve the problem of multi-scale GIS display. It included two primary steps, one was the computation of topological operator the other was building new map layer by this algorithm. The spatial relations were figured out by the operator of touch. If the two geometries were adjacent and the attributes were coincident, they would be merged into a new geometry and be put into the new map layer. It was finished until there were no new geometries which can be combined in the new data layer. The operator of touch was made better and the validity of this algorithm was proved by the experiments.
