Abstract :
A three-dimensional baroclinic primitive equation model of the Balearic Sea is developed and used to study processes controlling circulation on the shelf and shelf edge region off the north-east coast of Spain. The main components of the circulation, namely, a slope current, a fresh water plume from the Ebro river and an idealized mestral wind-driven flow are investigated using numerical model calculations
