Abstract
Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has been considered as essential to the success of the organization. There have been an increasing number of OCB studies focusing on individual and organization level, while a few focusing on group or team level. This study explored the relationship among team OCB, team satisfaction and team performance at the team level. Survey data were collected from Pearl River Delta, China. Team leaders (N=101) provided ratings on team performance. Team members (N=580) provided ratings on individual OCB, and individual satisfaction. Using data form 101 work teams and through confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling, this study found that that OCB (team member-rated) had a significantly positive effect on team satisfaction, team satisfaction had a significantly positive effect on team performance, and that the relationship between OCB (team member-rated) and team performance was mediated by team satisfaction. Finally, these results, their managerial implications, and directions for future research were discussed.
