Abstract :
In this correspondence, we present the performance of multi-user transmitter preprocessing (MUTP) assisted multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, aided by space time block code (STBC) over correlated and uncorrelated frequency-selective fading channels, for uplink (UL) communication for a multi-cell scenario with base station (BS) cooperation. The transmitter preprocessing (TP) is invoked by singular value decomposition (SVD) which exploits the channel state information (CSI) of all the users at the base station and only the individual user´s CSI at the mobile station (MS). Specifically, in this correspondence, we investigate the effects of two types of delay spread distributions pertaining to Long Term Evolution (LTE) pedestrian and typical urban on MUTP assisted MIMO system. In a multi-cell setting, co-channel interference (CCI) can severely degrade the system performance and further, frequency-selectivity of the channels can result in irreducible bit error rate (BER). It is demonstrated through simulation that, MUTP completely removes CCI and also outperforms classical zero-forcing multiuser detection (ZF-MUD).
