Analysis of the Productivity and Efficiency Based on China´s Retail Listed Companies

Retail productivity is the basis of competitive advantage of retail corporations and the efficiency can reflect the retail enterprise´s core competitive ability. This paper applied Malmquist Index to measure retail productivity growth in Chinese retail listed companies during 2000-2009, did DEA to analyze the retail enterprise´s efficiency. Empirical study showed that the mean of China´s retail companies technical efficiency that had been rising during the 2000-2009 ten years, especially entering the WTO, China´s retail company efficiency gradually improving, the greatest contribution is the scale efficiency while the pure technical efficiency is maintaining a balanced trend, total factor productivity index has improved all-over, and the efficiency of retail enterprises improving general originates from the technology progress.
