  • Abstract
This paper investigates the capacity behavior of spatially semi-correlated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. We extend the previous analysis on capacity by considering realistic scattering distributions such as Laplacian and von Mises distributions. Receiver angle spread, antenna spacing and nonuniform antenna configuration are also considered in this paper. Furthermore, we also investigate the accuracy of a Gaussian approximation of the outage capacity of MIMO-OFDM systems. Simulation results indicate that for both the i.i.d and semi-correlated fading cases considered, a Gaussian approximation is very accurate. We also demonstrate that both the delay spread and antenna configuration can increase the capacity of not-so-rich scattering MIMO-OFDM system
