  • Abstract
Advancements in Radio-Frequency (RF) technology are being used in interdisciplinary fields like biotechnology and biomedicine. Materials are needed that can serve multiple purposes. RF signals are being used to study biological systems, such as cells and bacteria, using integrated circuit fabrication techniques. These methods, however, are not always compatible with biological environments. This paper investigates the RF properties of Dupont Teflon Amorphous Fluoropolymer (Teflon AF) as masking film on gold coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures. The physical properties and the deposition method are discussed and data (45 MHz-50 GHz) on the reflection, transmission and effective permittivity is presented. Insertion loss change is less than 2% between coated and uncoated structures.
