Abstract :
A multicarrier transmission technique using two dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D FFT) is suggested in this paper. It modulates the data symbols onto the subcarriers that is located in a planar array by the 2D FFT transformation. Frequency domain channel equalization is performed at the receiver. We study the performance of this 2D FFT modulated signal and the relative merits and demerits of the method are compared with the conventional OFDM technique. Simulation results for the 2D FFT modulated signal is presented. In general, 2D FFT transmission scheme shows performance improvement by spiking the conventional OFDM FFT block into two smaller FFT blocks to avoid the time selective fading conditions, and simultaneously introduce better immunity from narrow-band jamming signal and impulse noise.
