Abstract :
Based on cellular industry data, the anticipated growth and churn rate for the personal communications service (PCS) market translates into high numbers of service activation and deactivation orders for PCS service providers (PSPs). Thus, methods of achieving rapid service activation could result in great savings. The paper describes three methods, all of which rely on a mechanized PSPs sales agent access to LEC systems. It points out the security burdens associated with over-the-air activation, identifies a manual activation as a near-term possibility and an automated wireline method as a target
