Abstract :
Nowadays, city pedestrian bridge is an important measure of resolving traffic problems to form people-oriented walk traffic system in China. It not only can resolve traffic congestion of main road, but also can improve trip environment. The city pedestrian bridge will only work if it is rationally construction. Among the many factors contributing to the success of city pedestrian bridge construction, the more important one is general layout. General layout of city pedestrian bridge includes site selection and plane layout mainly. In this paper, the principles of site selection and setting conditions are proposed from the perspective of attaining sustainable development by combining current standards with constructed experience of many cities on the basis of analyzing the existing problems. Linear planning approach and breakdown grading approach are used to study site selection of city pedestrian bridge quantitatively but no longer only using qualitative approaches. And the plane layout forms are summarized. By the research the modernization process of the city pedestrian bridge construction is promoted.
