  • Abstract
    This paper presents a novel management strategy for the historical manufacturing data in job shop which normally be stored in a MES system database. The managed data can help a MES system to improve its job scheduling capability by means of a back-to-forth feedback method in discrete manufacturing industry. It can effectively utilize the historical data and information of the fore-passed tasks to improve job scheduling. The method takes advantage of a tiered structure model to represent the foregone history job data, applies the segmenting searching strategy to the historical data, and gives the details about how to setup a usable historical job database with a circular data improving manner. A prototype system has been developed with Virtual C++/.Net tools and verified the proposed method.
