Abstract

This paper describes in detail the information model of the flexible cell controller (FICC) in GINTIC´s flexible manufacturing systems. The type of manufacturing information communicated is described and the processing of this information is illustrated with the data flow diagram. In addition, the type of command, request and reply messages used at the interfacing levels are also identified and a standard interface message format is adopted for the flexible cell controller. The information model is subsequently used to facilitate the task of integrating the various computer-aided manufacturing processes within a CIM application environment
