Abstract :
This paper presents the expert system bases to automate selection of drive structures based on application specifications supplied by a skilled or semi-skilled user. The user describes his application from the graphic interface of the expert system, and gives constraints like load characteristics, speed or frequency range of the motor, specifications of environment or speed control. The expert system then selects some structures of motor-converter drives, and gives some qualitative performances and features of them (harmonics, losses, motor cost, etc...)
