Abstract :
Principle of magnetron had been known before the designing of a cavity magnetron. But then in twenties-thirties it had been only about rather low power. Devices of Alekseev and Malyarov on 10 cm wave produced 300 Watt - it was an unprecedented experience. Due to their publication in 1940 a powerful impulse was given to the development of magnetrons and radio locators of centimeter range all over the world. In all information sources Alekseev and Malyarov have been assigned among the inventors of a multiresonator magnetron, but until recently their destinies have been unknown. The results of investigations, pursued in Central museum of communication named after A. S. Popov on request of foreign colleagues are presented in the report. It was defined that both inventors had faced the war in Leningrad. In autumn and in December 1941 they were still working with radar equipment in blockaded city. In the beginning of 1942 Alekseev was evacuated to Moscow, where a new lamp manufacturing was being organized. His further occupation was associated with Moscow Aeronautical Institute. Malyarov died in 1942 in blockaded Leningrad.
