Abstract
The technology innovation system was a complex system with an characteristic of self-organization. Non-linear interaction exists between the inner elements of technology innovation system. Drawing on evolutionary thinking, considering the interaction between innovation producers and users, studying, searching and choosing during the innovation process and innovation tradition, an evolutionary model was constructed. This paper reveals technology innovation activities are affected by definite factors as well as random factors, and their evolutionary process is the unification of definiteness and randomness. The fundamental reason for the evolution is that the nonlinear action mechanism exists in the innovation system, i.e. the nature of the evolutionary process of technology innovation is self-organization, and the random force functions decisively at the bifurcation point of the evolution. The conclusion indicates that innovation process is neither a linear and certain process, nor the process with random evolution. Innovation maturity and evolution situation are various, and the innovation process is repeatable and changeable in various situations. people must respect the evolution rule and cannot organize innovation activities, control and adjust the technology innovation system arbitrarily.
