Safe RTI systems-a proposal for a standard

A proposal for a standard for the design and certification of European road transport informatics systems is being produced as part of `DRIVE Safely´ (EC DRIVE project V1051) by a consortium from three different countries. It is intended that this proposal should be given to CEN/CENELEC at the basis for a European Standard. The Institute of Traffic Safety, TUEV Rheinland in Cologne, Germany, have special responsibility for hardware; Program Validation Limited and the Safety Critical Computing Group of the Universiry of Leeds, both in the UK, have special responsibility for software; and the Department of Vehicle Dynamics, TNO Road Vehicles Research Institute in Delft, Holland, have the role of unifying the proposals.
