Abstract
Contoured beam antennas are increasingly used on-board communication and broadcast satellites to achieve efficient coverage of irregularly shaped regions on earth and to minimise interference outside the coverage boundaries. Satellite systems require antennas that can radiate several shaped beams simultaneously. The authors describe some general analysis techniques, appropriate to the synthesis of single and dual shaped reflector antennas. A number of the design aspects are discussed and a strategy, that has been successfully applied by ERA is outlined and illustrated by a multi-coverage example
