Abstract
Summary form only given. Efficient waveguiding by 2D photonic crystal (PC) waveguide filters has been demonstrated both theoretically and experimentally for straight waveguides, bends and single microcavities. We demonstrate that resonant cavities can be obtained by inserting proper defects along a one missing-row PC waveguide. These defects act as partial reflectors.
