Abstract :
The Hough transform (HT) is a robust technique which is useful in detecting straight lines in an edge-enhanced picture. This paper presents a technique aimed at improving the efficiency and reducing the memory size of the accumulator array of circle detection using HT. The approach centres on the use of approximating a circular image(s) by a set(s) of line segment patterns. It combines the central ideas of the end points detection Hough transform, the general Hough transforms for line segment patterns, the techniques of piecewise linear approximation and the technique of using a 2-dimensional accumulator for circle detection
