Abstract :
The paper focuses on the use of water soluble bowl shaped molecules or ions (cavitands) in conjunction with metal and organic ions of various spatial geometries to form nanomaterials with tunable porosity. This involves self assembly processes with two or more of the components pre-programmed to interplay in a controlled way to afford nanoporous material with the desired function.
