Abstract :
Summary form only given. Cold atom beams are of interest in a variety of physics applications, including atomic frequency standards, atom optics, fundamental physics experiments and the study of Bose-Einstein condensation. In particular, a cold dual-species beam is of interest to experiments planned for NASA´s Laser Cooling and Atomic Physics (LCAP) program. We present such a dual-species beam (Cs + Rb) and report on its characterization and its central application, the loading of dual-species UHV magneto-optical traps. We are also investigating possible cross-species interactions in such UHV MOTs.
