Abstract :
Summary form only given. We measure both the momentum and energy of the excited /sup 87/Rb BEC cloud by performing tomographic analysis on time-of-flight (TOF) images of the excited atoms. We find that the atoms that carry the momentum of the excitation out of the BEC cloud, carry the entire excitation energy.
