Abstract :
This paper investigates the suitability of ADS-B airborne position messages for calibrating a direction of arrival (DOA) sensor for Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) signals at runtime. An ad hoc system is thereby utilized to receive, automatically select and process a statistically relevant number of ADS-B replies. It is experimentally shown that ADS-B transponders can provide a suitable calibration signal within some limitations.
