Abstract :
Summary form only given. The phenomenon of strong-field interference stabilization of Rydberg atoms is known to arise owing to coherent re-population of Rydberg levels in the process of photoionization. Re-population of levels is provided by Raman-type transitions via the continuum. Transitions to the continuum from coherently re-populated in such a way close Rydberg levels can interfere with each other and suppress photoionization. In this work these ideas are adopted to molecules and their photodissociation by a strong laser field. in such a scheme Rydberg levels are substituted by vibrational levels of the molecular ground electronic state, and transitions to the atomic continuum by transitions to the first unstable electronic state.
