Abstract :
In light of the need to cut personnel cost and appease officer complaints about shift schedules, the National Highway Police Bureau needs to evaluate the efficiency of its manually designed shift schedules. This research applies integer linear programming and develops a scheduling model to help the NHPB solve the problem. The model is combined with Monte Carlo simulation method for data generation and performs the ANOVA test and paired t-test to verify feasibility of the model. A case study is conducted on one highway platoon. The results indicate that the model provides an alternative scheduling model to cut cost and help settle complaint problems.
