Abstract :
Summary form only given. We present calculations which demonstrate that solitons and vortices can be created by Bragg reflection of a condensate in an optical lattice. Our analysis involves numerical solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for a rubidium atom condensate in a three-dimensional harmonic trap.
