Abstract :
Summary form only given. Field localization, increased tunneling times, and enhanced nonlinear frequency conversion rates are examples that characterize the physical properties of a new class of devices known as photonic band gap structures. We report on novel propagation phenomena related to the dynamics of colliding pulses. We consider a 20-period structure composed of alternating quarter-wave and half-wave layers.
