Abstract :
This paper describes a model developed to assess data replication strategies employed in distributed operation support systems (OSSs) and network management systems (NMSs) for future public service networks. Maximum network throughput and optimum configuration is determined from network characteristics such as number of network and management nodes, connectivity, relative message processing rates and degree of replication. Practical illustration of the application of this model is demonstrated for a two-layer management network based on management functions for a 3G radio access network.
