Abstract :
A high-speed magnetostatic wave (MSW)-based integrated magnetooptic (MO) frequency shifter module at X-band has been realized in a YIG-GGG waveguide by integrating an ion-milled curved hybrid waveguide lens with an MO frequency shifter which utilizes synchronous tuning of the carrier frequency of the MSW and the bias magnetic field. Design, fabrication and characterization of the curved hybrid lens which combines curved Fresnel with chirp grating patterns and the resulting device module are presented. Measurement of the frequency spectrum of the frequency-shifted light using heterodyne detection has shown that the frequency shift was identical to the carrier frequency of the MSW
