Abstract :
During 2012 Alstom have introduced 4 new 11-car Pendolino trains on the West Coast Main Line route and are extending 31 of the existing 9-car trains to 11-car configuration. This paper presents the main features of the 11-car train design and describes the challenges that were addressed during the manufacturing, testing and service introduction of the new vehicles.
