Abstract :
The idea of using multitone signaling for wireless mobile communications has become increasingly popular in the past few years. This article describes the use of multitone signals and antenna combining in a system which is capable of “learning” the characteristics of the wireless transmission channel. The channel is assumed to be a frequency-selective channel which is slowly changing. By utilizing both the “water-pouring” technique of multitone signaling and antenna diversity combining, it is possible to maximize the bit rate through the channel. The new part of this system is the use of antenna diversity combining in this transmission scheme
