Abstract :
The development of the digital battlefield presents many new challenges. Digitization of the battlefield represents a new way of doing business. Modeling and simulation (M&S) is the key to success in this new territory. An integrated M&S strategy that runs from requirements definition through fielding will ensure success in the digital world. Systems have become far too complex and extensive to simply use small-scale prototypes for testing and extrapolating the results to predict the performance of the entire system. It is also not economical to field entire systems for the purpose of conducting performance testing. Evaluation criteria have also changed; on the digital battlefield, the technical performance of a system is not a valid measure of its value or usefulness. Operational effectiveness is the bottom line
