  • Abstract
This paper proposes a successive multi-user detector that detects signals with different symbol rates. The proposed multi-user detector successively detects signals based on rejection of out-of-band signals and replica generation using soft-decision outputs from channel decoders. Moreover, an ordering method, which decides the detection order of the proposed multi-user detector based on the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio in consideration of the signal bandwidths of each signal, is proposed in order to enhance the multi-user detection performance. Simulation results show that employing the proposed ordering method can greatly improve the multi-user detection performance when the training periods of each signal are overlapped, as in the case when the frames of each signal are synchronized. The results also show that the BER performance of the proposed detector can be further improved by using the ordering method for the case when the training periods of each signal are not overlapped, as in the case when the frames of each signal are not synchronized
