Abstract :
This paper is focused to achieving the efficient operation of an twelve-pulses Static Synchronous Compensator (StatCom) controlled by a fixed point DSP. The controller includes a digital Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL), pulse generator modules for firing angle control of the Voltage Source Converter (VSC), along with the appropriated circuitry for charging the DC Capacitor. The StatCom output signal processing for controlling the reactive power exchange is also included in the blocks to be implemented on the DSP. A complete digital simulation of the StatCom performed in MATLAB/Simulink, using Piece-wise Linear Electrical Circuit Simulation (PLECS), including the stages previously mentioned, is provided. The PLL signal is built on the DSP to show that using IQMath the solution can be precise and achievable.
