Abstract :
The planning of river valley water pollution prevention and cure involves much spatial information and attribute information, so it is necessary to build a spatial assistance decision support system which includes GIS technologies, mathematical model technologies and the leaders´ decision and experts´ knowledge. This paper discusses a system method to build a GIS system for river valley water pollution prevention and cure planning, and realizes research on the Hanjiang river valley. This system includes spatial geographical location information, water information and human and economical information of the whole valley and main cities and towns in the valley. The model-base system includes the river´s 1D model, 2D model and the artificial neural network water quality appraisal model. The method-base mainly provides some essential algorithms for those models. It is a very important step to select appropriate models based on the practical need and information and manpower which can be provided. The knowledge-base provides effective assistance decision support for the planning of water pollution prevention and cure
