An Impact Analysis of FDI and Import Trade to China´s Regional Technology Innovation Capability

In this article, using 29 provinces and cities´ data from 1990 to 2007 and the measurement regression method, the author carried out the empirical analysis on the effects of FDI and import trade on China´s regional technology innovation capability. The results indicate that FDI plays the promoting role in enhancing technology innovation capability of China´s eastern, central and northeast regions, and there are obvious differences among them, FDI plays the impeding role in enhancing the technology innovation capability of China´s western region, but this role is not remarkable, the import trade plays the promoting role in enhancing the technology innovation capability of various regions, the effects of FDI and import trade for the promotion of regional technology innovation capability are far less than the effects of the domestic R&D input. Based on the empirical results, the author draws conclusions and puts forward the policy suggestions.
