Abstract :
A new monitoring and control system for clinker rotary kiln is proposed in this paper. This system underpinned with a mathematical model of the process consists of five operational layers; three layers for monitoring and two for control system. In this paper, we focus on monitoring system which is made up of instrumentation, mathematical model processing, and visualization layers. The control system will be exploited in future works since it requires the extension of optimal control theory for distributed parameter processes which is out of the scope of this paper.
