Abstract :
The use of distributed computer systems has been increasing in many areas of industry, government, and academia. Advances in computer and communication technologies, such as the Internet, have contributed to the establishment of widespread and reasonably priced value added networks. The computer systems can be categorized into five classes according to each performance. Also, a large sized database is divided into small sized data files to be distributed at each proper sites. We deal with the optimal design of the distributed computer system design problem for selecting a proper class of computer for each location and for allocating data files. The optimization model for the location of computer and data files on a value added network is solved by using the genetic algorithm
