Abstract :
This paper investigates the use of mobile agents in the platform of mobile IPv6, to provide adapted services to mobile users. The "services" can be information searching, scientific computing, or command implementation, and they all can be generalized to "computation". The mobile agents, as autonomous entities, can migrate from mobile nodes to the Internet infrastructure locations. They will take advantage of the resources their specific tasks require on the infrastructure, possibly involving further migration, and then return with the necessary results back to the mobile devices. Mobile users (devices) can thus access the Internet anywhere, anytime for any proposes. Communications between mobile devices and the Internet infrastructure are in a form of intermittent connectivity and low bandwidth. Furthermore, processing power and memory capacity of compact mobile devices remain relatively small. COMMIPIA is a general architecture that involves many research topics such as intelligent agents, automatic negotiation, knowledge acquirement, mobile IPv6, distributed computation and so on
