Abstract
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the intergovernmental organisation responsible, inter alia, for the regulation and planning of telecommunications worldwide. It is divided into five permanent organs, of which one is the International Radio Consultative Committee (CCIR). The author discusses the role of the CCIR in telecommunications including administrative radio conferences, technical standards, measurement data banks, and propagation measurement campaigns
