Abstract
The author finds that an increase of system capacity can be achieved in wireless PCS by applying the intelligent cell concept. The intelligent cell can reduce interference either by intelligently delivering the signal to the mobile unit, or tolerating a great deal of interference while receiving the signal. The former case isolates the signal with multiple zones. In the latter case, the signal resides with the interference but retains its processing gain. The paper presents the philosophy of achieving greater system capacity by applying the intelligent cell concept in wireless PCS
