Abstract
The authors develops and tests a general method for estimating the joint cumulative distribution of rainfall rate occurring at two localities: input to this model are the marginal cumulative distributions and the correlation coefficient between the two localities; moreover, from the analysis of rainfall measurements performed in Italy, it has been shown that the latter quantity can be easily assessed if the separation distance and the rainfall rate exceeded are given. The joint statistics can be inferred for probabilities ranging from 0.1% to 0.005% and for integration times up to 30 minutes
