Abstract :
As the Internet and the World Wide Web have been developed and popularized, information systems that store a huge amount of information, such as digital libraries, have been evolved. The structure of objects in such information systems is becoming more and more complex. There is a little research on normalization design for complex object schemes. This paper shows our research on normalization design. Novel ideas include: (1) the definition and properties of object dependency (OD); (2) the definition and properties of the object normal form; (3) an algorithm deriving a normal object scheme forest; and (4) some properties of a set of OD properties.
