Abstract :
The Internet is a global collection of autonomously administered packet-switched networks that use the TCP/IP protocols to form a single virtual network allowing every part to communicate with any other. Internet nodes have unique addresses called IP addresses. An IP address contains location information, which is used by the IP to route the datagrams. As a result it is not possible to incorporate mobile nodes into the Internet. Because of this, a major modification to IP has been developed and standardized. This modification referred to as Mobile IP, enables mobile nodes to be connected to the Internet. This paper provides an overview of this modification. An intelligent network (IN) with Mobile IP for military tasks, which are predominantly radio-based and "on the move" with minimal fixed infrastructure, is also presented
