Abstract :
Alternative designs of switched reluctance and brushless AC permanent magnet low pressure generators have been presented for a wide speed range aircraft generator application. Whilst at this stage insufficient testing has been completed to make a definitive comparison between the two technologies, in terms of performance, reliability and cost, both remain strong contenders for generators in future More Electric Aircraft.
