Abstract :
The feasibility of broadband inroom radio communications at 60 GHz has been examined by direct measurement of feasible bit rates in a representative office environment and by wall and glass attenuation and reflection measurements. In the measurement set-up an omni-directional radiating antenna was used at the base station and a directive antenna at the remote station, thus representing a radio local area network (RLAN) with directional remote antennas. The investigation includes the effects of antenna misalignment. Results indicate that this type of RLAN is a candidate configuration to offer B-ISDN inroom radio communications
