Abstract :
In this paper we introduce the code division methodology into switching applications. The proposed method is applied in both satellite and terrestrial networks which is called switched code division multiple access (SW/CDMA). The SW/CDMA networks include the following: the satellite switched code division multiple access (SS/CDMA), for on-board routing in multibeam satellites; the base station-switched CDMA (BS/CDMA), for routing CDMA user-channels in terrestrial wireless networks; and the cable-switched CDMA (CS/CDMA), for routing CDMA user-channels in coax-cable networks. Code division switching can also be used to route circuit switched or ATM traffic accessed by time division or time multiplexed methods. The proposed switching mechanism provides direct connectivity between the end users with minimum signal processing at the switching node
